a sourdough obsession.

Sourdough bread is the best.

It was always a delicacy while I was growing up. It seemed we only had it on a special occasion (like grilled cheese and tomato soup nights). I didn’t mind though, it was my favorite all the same.

Then I moved to Oregon and found out that sourdough bread is not a delicacy at all. It’s common-bread! Available so far and so wide that you could order a sandwich with it on any given Wednesday afternoon. Ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato and a little bit of honey mustard, please. Oh, and can I please get that toasted?

I made about a million sandwiches with sourdough during my bout at the university dining halls. Everything you could imagine we piled on that delightful bread. More than ham and turkey, there was salami and pepperoni, tuna and tempeh, and cheese - oh such a variety of cheese!

There was even a period of time where I thought I could bake it myself. You can’t blame me, we were all quite delirious when 2020 hit.

And since my debut into adulthood, it’s all I ever buy.
